According to TorrentFreak, the owner of KAT was arrested in Poland while there to meet a potential "Advertiser", who was in fact Law Enforcement, your classic "HoneyPot Trap".
After his arrest, ALL domains linked to KAT were seized and shut down, including their Tor Page and their Mirror Sites & KATStatus page.
